Mediawan Thematics is the largest publisher of subscription TV channels in France. The Group offers strong brands and themes for all audiences in the various francophone markets (particularly in Europe and Africa). These channels are available from all of the main TV service providers and national telecoms.
The 17 channels fall into three different categories:
- Entertainment channels: RTL9, AB1, Action, Action Max, Mangas, AB3.
- Documentary channels: Science & Vie TV, Mon Science & Vie Junior, Toute l’Histoire, Animaux, Chasse & Pêche, Ultra Nature, Crime District, ABXplore.
- Sports channels: Automoto, Trek, Golf Channel.
Mediawan Thematics also publishes the associated digital services in these segments, including many YouTube channels with original and exclusive content.
By working with leading players in the sector (Fremantle, Gaumont International Television, etc.), Mediawan Thematics demonstrates its ambitions for premium content. Indeed, the Group acquired exclusive rights to the 2019 season of American Idol and the Netflix limited series Narcos, never before aired on television.
Launched on November 5, 2018, “Automoto, the channel” is a perfect illustration of the Group’s plans to move more upscale, with broadcasting of four original productions on the channel, including a weekly talk show. This successful rebranding with our various partners (media, distributors, etc.) has been accompanied by positive initial responses from audiences.
In Belgium, AB3 and ABXplore are setting records. AB3 had a historic year in 2018, becoming the third most popular channel in francophone Belgium in December. ABXplore is continuing to grow, and set a record in December 2018, with its largest audience since its launch.
